Hello! My name is Kristen. I am a physical therapist, run coach, strength coach, and run clinician coach.
Let me tell you a quick story about how RUN YOUR LIFE came to be. So there was a time when I couldn't seem to stay injury free from running. It was 2016 and since 2011 when I had graduated college and hung up the collegiate spikes, I had been injured FOUR different times from RUNNING SPECIFICALLY and THREE other times outside of running. I couldn't seem to catch a break. I just seemed to keep repeating the same pattern. Get healthy, start running, get injured.
At the time I was trying to continue to compete, achieve even faster times after college, and explore new distances like the half marathon. But I was struggling with staying injury free long enough to complete a training cycle..
And I was getting more and more frustrated and just wanted to give up on my goals. .
And just when I didn’t think it could get any worse: I suffered my FOURTH running injury in five years. I had signed up to run the Fargo Half Marathon and not even 6 weeks into my training I was injured again.
Which would mean that 2/3 of the Half Marathon's I had EVER signed up for would be DNS's and expensive T-shirts.
But I wasn't ready to give up on my dream of becoming the best runner I could be.
I decided I was going to figure out how to run injury free again.
Over the next two years I learned how to:
• Be patient with my running and just ENJOY it again.
• Focus on STRENGTH MORE and running less for the time being.
•LISTEN to my body and truly RESPECT it. I couldn't pretend I was still in college running 50 miles a week, I had to EASE back into everything.
Because I was able to do these three things, for the past THREE years I have been able to:
• RUN WITHOUT PAIN THAT STOPPED ME FROM RUNNING
• FEEL STRONGER overall when running
• START DREAMING ABOUT RUNNING GOALS and PRS AGAIN
Now I'm living my dream of becoming the best runner I can be WITHOUT the constant roller coaster of INJURIES.
